Competitions

COMPETITIONS

The competitions calendar begins in September and continues until May with various festival weekends taking place during the summer months. There is a competition for everyone's tastes and time. Having a go at everything has always been the club attitude.

SPORT

Club Members take part throughout the year in sporting competitions ranging from indoor soccer, basketball and volleyball to outdoor football and hurling. Bowling, Karting and Quading are also activities members enjoy. The club have a regular sports night every Monday night during the winter season, members enjoy practice sessions and friendly club exchanges in soccer and basketball.

SOCIAL

Social events include Mr & Miss Macra, The National Rally, The National Talent Competition, Christmas Party, End of Year dinner and various club and regional nights out.

TRAVEL

The prizewinners trip, club exchanges, Stephen Cullinane Scholarship, European Rally and club travel are just some of the ways Macra members travel the world. In the past members have taken part in the prizewinners trip having visited Moscow, Cape Cod, Amsterdam and Budapest.

Germany and Switzerland is set to be the summer trip for 2009.

The Swedish summer trip in 2008 was a huge success with thirteen members visiting Gotthenburg and taking a day trip to Copenhagen.

July 2007 a group attended the Royal Welsh Show.

In June 2006 a group of members attended the Royal Edinburgh Show in Scotland.

In August 2005 a group of members were involved in a Youth Project exchange with the Devon Young Farmers. In November 2005 members went on the Macra trip to Barcelona.

The club is committed to assisting the local community wherever and whenever it is possible.
