The 2010 production is 'Mantrap' by Paul Reakes.
The 2009 production was 'Sorry, Wrong Number' by Lucille Fletcher and with the kind permission of Josef Weinberger Ltd. Originally a radio play made famous by Agnes Moorehead and later a film with Barbara Stynwck and Burt Lancaster this is a Film Noir Thriller with the atmosphere of early Alfred Hitchcock movies. The 2009 production won the Cork Drama Final in Rinaskiddy on March 14th. The national semi-final was held on April 4th in Banteer where the production picked up best producer, best actor and best actress on the night. At the national final held in Kilkenny on April 25th & 26th the club won the national title and were awarded best director Michael Manley and the adjudicator's choice award went to Ann Murphy for her protrayal of the operator in this thriller.
The 2008 production of 'Till We Meet Again' by Colin Crowther & Mary Crowther swept the boards at the Cork county final on 17th February 2008. It picked up Best Producer, Best Play, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress on the night. The play is a black comedy revolving around 'John' a dying man who revisits and reassesses aspects of his life. The play was produced by Michael Manley and the cast included Sean Ronan, Ann Murphy, Joseph Shorten, Orla Whelton, Thomas Sutton, Áine O'Donoghue and Padraig Griffin. At the National Semi-Final the production picked up a Best Producer Award and Best Actor Award Joseph Shorten. The production was placed third at the national final and a nomination for best actor was also awarded to Thomas Sutton.
2007 the club's production of The Insanity of Mary Girard came to the national finals in Rossmore having picked up a Best Actress award at the Cork county final and Best Producer, Best Actress and Best Actor at the semi-final in Mountmellick Co. Laois. The production were the eventually runners up to deserving winners Ballincollig Macra at the final. To all those who helped us along the way from rehearsal venues, sponsorship and transportation to back stage and technical details we thank you most sincerely.
In 2006 Clonakilty Macra have returned to the drama programme and for the first time in the club history won a national drama round and represented the club at the Macra National Drama Final in 2006 with "The Man Who Wouldn't Go To Heaven" written by Francis Sladen-Smith and produced by Michael Manley. This production won a best producer and best actress award at the national semi-final and an adjudicators choice award at the national final.
In 1997 the club won their first county drama title after their success at the regional round with the play "A House Without Windows" directed and produced by Colm O'Sullivan.
In 1975 the club came third at the regional drama competition with a one act play called "A wife Late in Life" written by Denis Carroll and was staged at the town's St. Patrick's Day concert and again to raise funds for the Geriatric Society. In 1979 the club won the regional drama competition and went forward to the county round with the play "Spring" produced by the late John Hennessey.
1959 was the first year that the club took part in a drama competition. "The Shadow of the Glen" written by J. M. Synge was produced by Rev. Fr. McGrath and came third at the Rossmore Drama Festival that year. Then members Margaret Leader (nee Murphy) won an outstanding acting cerificate and T.J. O'Mahoney won a merit certificate at the same event. Further productions followed throughout the sixties under the guidance of Fr. McGrath who gave so generously of his time and creativity to the drama program at this time.
